Ma’az Khota bags five medals

Ma’az Khota - a Grade 8 learner of Selly Park and 14 years old, is the Michael Phelps or Chad le Clos of the town and his school after he produced some excellent results at the Junior All African Games Swimming Championships in Egypt from 14 - 21 October. South Africa was represented by four swimmers in each age group at the games and Ma’az contested the 100 and 50 metres freestyle, the freestyle relay and the 200 metres individual medley relay, producing a gold, one bronze and three silver medals. Ma’az is trained by Dee Heckler of the Otters Swimming Club and now has his sights set on the 2022 Commonwealth Games which will be hosted in South Africa. Congratulations! (Photograph Cecile

RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - 4 x 4 Enthusiasts will have their work cut out for them at the next round of 4 x 4 action at Steineck Lodge on Saturday, 2 November. As spectators have become accustomed to - some real and exciting 4 x 4 action at Steineck is regularly organised by the local 4 x 4 fraternity and fun days such as these are not only for the whole family - but definitely a lot more than a little but of fun!
