The purpose of the visit was to establish working relations between the Rustenburg Local Municipality and the Consulate of the United states of America, with the long term view to exploring future business relations and foreign aid in the fields of education, mining, governance and health, amongst others.
"It is my first visit to the North West province, and decided to start with Rustenburg as it is a very exciting developmental and business prospect, as the biggest exporter of platinum in the sub-Saharan region, if not the rest of the world. It is the fastest growing city in Africa. This, we couldn't ignore, but decided to explore these exciting and promising prospects", remarked Consul General Spera, in his engagement with Executive Mayor.
"We are obviously equally excited about this significant visit by the Consul General of the United states, as this signals good fortune for the Municipality in terms of enhancing service delivery through foreign aid, peer review and exchange programs. This will benefit the Municipality a great deal in that good lessons would have been learnt in the long run, thus capacitating our personnel and institution through exposure. This will translate into improved service delivery, which our communities so much need out there. We will continue to facilitate these bilaterals to fruition, so that they benefit the lot of our people and business alike, in our Municipality ", commented Executive Mayor, Cllr Kgomotso Shiela Mabale-Huma, in her interaction with the Consul General.
