BONUS – BUFFELSPOORT – A short family vacation at a resort outside Rustenburg took a tragic turn when a man was killed by robbers in the chalet he shared with his wife and siblings. Johannes Nicolaas Brits (68) died after being shot by three unknown intruders who apparently gained entry into the chalet at the Buffelspoor ATKV resort through an open window.

According to information available, one of the holdiday party saw when the three suspects came in through the window at around 01:00 on Thursday and shouted for help. The robbers attacked her and Brits then tried to intervene. He was shot point blank and died on the scene.
Shortly afterwards the robbers fled into the night, taking only three Nokia cellphones.
Col Adéle Myburgh, North West provincial police liaison officer, said that a case of murder, as well as one of robbery is being investigated. Col Myburgh added that it's not clear at this stage how the suspects entered the resort.
No arrests have been made and people who might have information that can assist the police are requested to contact the investigating officer W/O Job Monnagaratoe op 072 092 2348.
