BONUS – RUSTENBURG – The North West provincial management has welcomed the life and 287 years’ imprisonment handed to 44-year-old Joseph Ngobeni for 29 charges of rape, another 29 charges of robbery and one of kidnapping.

Ngobeni was sentenced on Thursday, 30 March 2017, by the North West High Court sitting in Rustenburg.

The accused’s sentencing emanated from the offences he committed between 13 May 2007 and 23 June 2012. He and other unknown person (s) embarked on committing crimes ranging from rape, kidnapping and robberies. The accused used a knife or firearm in almost all the incidents to threaten the victims.

The North West Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane thanked the investigation team and everyone involved in the case to ensure that the accused is convicted. She said further that the police will work hard to ensure that those who commit serious and sexual offences languish in jail.
