Safari Tuine robbery suspects appears in Court

BONUS - RUSTENBURG - On Thursday 28 June 2018 Fernando Mhlanga 24 a Mozambiquen national appeared before the Rustenburg Magistrate court and remanded in custody on a charge of house robbery.

It is alleged that on the early hours of Tuesday 26 June 2018 Mr & Mrs Aswagen of Arends Kloof, Safari Tuine in Rustenburg were woken by the dogs continuously barking and decided go out and investigate.

But unfortunately three suspects were already in the house and in possession of their television and cellphones. According to Sergeant Ofentse Mokgadi, spokesperson for the police in Rustenburg, the suspects threatened them with a screwdriver then a fight ensued between the husband and the suspects.

The wife then ran outside and screamed for help and fortunately the neighbors arrived. 

Two suspects managed to flee and one was apprehended. Mr Aswagen sustained stab wounds in the upper body and was taken to hospital.

He is currently in hospital. Mhlanga was expected to appear again before court on Monday 02 July 2018.
