Two appear in court for illegal possession of firearms

BONUS - RUSTENBURG- On Wednesday, 18 July, Thebeetsile Matenge (43) and Modise Moenyane (38) appeared briefly before the Rustenburg Magistrate court on two charges of illegal possession of firearm and robbery.

According Sergeant Ofentse Mokgadi, Spokesperson for the police in Rustenburg, it is alleged that on Monday, 16 July 2018 a Chinese national businessman was robbed of an undisclosed amount of money and a firearm by more than four suspects at a parking area in the Central Business Area (CBD).

The suspects then sped off in a white Audi Sedan which was later traced by K9 Unit at a residential complex in Waterkloof.

Matenge and Moeyane were then arrested after being found in possession of two pistols, one that belongs to the Chinese national businessman and the other one with its serial numbers was filed off.

Both suspects were remanded in custody until Wednesday, 25 July 2018.
