Tragic death of four-year-old child investigated

BONUS - RUSTENBURG- Police in Marikana are investigating an inquest following an incident in which a four-year-old chi lied after being electrocuted.

This tragic incident took place on Thursday, 11 October at Stoomhuis informal settlement, Marikina.
According to Captain Elsabé Augoustides, police spokesperson in Rustenburg the child was allegedly electrocuted after touching a wire fence yard. Preliminary investigation revealed that electrocution was caused by an illegal power connection from a transformer.
The Rustenburg Cluster Commander, Major General Arthur Adams has expressed his concern about the illegal power connection that led to the death of an innocent child.
He urged members of the community not to tamper with critical infrastructure as that is an offence and those responsible will be prosecuted in terms of the Criminal Matters Amendment Act, No 18 of 2015: essential Infrastructure.
