Klerksdorp Record, Orkney - The SAPS task team against illicit mining arrested six men in Orkney during a crime operation on June 21.

The suspects, aged between 20 and 30-years old, were inside a Toyota Quantum that was stopped and searched on the R30.

“During the search, an unlicensed 9mm semi-automatic pistol with one magazine, 25 live rounds and 25 blank rounds were found in the vehicle and confiscated. The men were arrested as no one could account for the firearm,’’ said Capt Aafje Botma, police spokesperson.

It was also found that the men are not legal in the country. They were charged with contravention of the Immigration Act.
