Klerksdorp Record, Stilfontein - Gunshots thundered through the Civic Centre in the early hours of Sunday June 26.

The shots were fired in front of the Blue Moon night club. Club owner Isaac Agu (43) was gunned down in an apparent assassination. He was shot four times outside the club at 03:10 and died at the scene. It was described as a scene straight out of a mafia film.

According to the police, Agu was shot on the pavement outside Blue Moon. This well-known Nigerian businessman who owns several night clubs was inside the club when a bouncer called him to the front door because one of the patrons wanting to enter was carrying a knife. Weapons are not allowed in the club.

“There was a commotion and then a car pulled up and four shots were fired, killing Agu instantly,” said Capt Afjee Botma, police spokesperson.

Agu owned Miller Lounge in the Klerksdorp CBD, as well as clubs in Ikageng and Potchefstroom. At the time of going to press, the assassin was still on the run. The police investigation continues.
