    Fugitive back behind bars

    Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - One of the five trial awaiting prisoners who escaped from Klerksdorp Magistrate’s Court in September, is behind bars again. Bongani Eudwin Mkhwanazi (51) was captured by the Hawks on Wednesday 30 October in Soweto following his escape from the holding cells in the basement of the PC Pelser Building on 17 September. The Hawks were assisted by members of Soweto and Westrand K9 units.

    Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - The taxi driver who was behind the wheel of a taxi that crashed head-in into a taxi that transported school children appeared in the Klerksdorp Traffic Court this week on a charge of culpable homicide. The day that forever changed the lives of some parents and children is still fresh in the minds of everyone involved. The court gallery was packed to the brim with people in support of the victims of this horrific crash in which nine learners were hospitalised. The driver of the other taxi died in the accident in Tirisano Road near Jouberton on 13 August.

    Dealing in dagga illegal, warn SAPS

    Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - The South African Police Service will act, not only against businesses that sell dagga illegally, but also against customers who buy these products. SAPS issued a stern warning that the establishment of illegal dispensaries/outlets, online sites and social media platforms that are marketing and selling cannabis and cannabis-related products to the public remains illegal, except where specifically allowed in terms of the Medicines and Related Substances Act.
