    Crime must fall

The killing of businessman Mohamed Dangor on 11 November sparked outrage in the community. This was the scene outside the magistrate’s court during the bail application of his alleged killer. The community protested outside court against bail being granted to Tshiamo Sekgoro on Wednesday 20 November. They called for justice to be served to restore the value of a life, asking how many more innocent lives should be lost before there is some change. They said people are losing faith in the justice system because killers are being allowed to roam free and they “cannot allow what happened to Mohammed Dangor go unnoticed and have a repetition of this sorrowful loss of life”. A petition with more than 1 400 signatures asking the magistrate not to release Sekgoro on bail was also handed in at the Magistrates Court. Photo: Salomé Kotzé.
