Klerksdorp Record, Khuma - It wasn’t the first time that South African football fans were touched by sad news in the football fraternity on 13 January. A disaster in football history happened on 13 January when a stampede at Oppenheimer Stadion in a “friendly” game between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates left several people dead. This year, again on 13 January, football fans were shocked to hear about the death of the former Bafana Bafana striker, Phillemon Raul ‘Chippa’ Masinga (49).

School drama - Meddling with report cards investigated

Klerksdorp Record, Stilfontein - The findings of the task team investigating allegations of racism and irregularities with report cards at Hoërskool Stilfontein will be known by the end of the week. Education MEC Sello Lehari visited the school on Tuesday 15 January following days of unrest at the school. The school week started with a bang on Monday 14 January when classes were disrupted, windows and doors broken and furniture thrown from the first story.

Klerksdorp Rekord, Klerksdorp - ‘n Egpaar van Orkney was onderweg na hul seun op Richardsbaai toe hul bakkie reg van voor teen ‘n ander motor op Newcastle bots. Louw Deetlefs (77), die bestuurder van die bakkie, is opslag dood en sy vrou, Sarah (63), het later aan haar beserings beswyk. Serah sou haar 64ste verjaardag op Maandag 14 Januarie vier. '

Sakeman moet opdok vir diefstal

Klerksdorp Rekord, Klerksdorp - ‘n Sakeman van die stad wat mense bedrieg het met ondermeer voertuigkooptransaksies, moet meer as R350 000 terugbetaal aan die mense wat hy besteel het. Herman Roodt (43) is op Dinsdag 15 Januarie gevonnis nadat hy in Oktober verlede jaar skuld erken het op sewe klagtes van diefstal. Hy is aanvanklik van bedrog aangekla.
