City still without mayor

Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - The City of Matlosana still hasn’t elected a new mayor as the council meeting last week to elect a mayor was adjourned after the opposition parties walked out of the meeting. Council Speaker Washington Ntozini who did not arrive for the meeting was given 20 minutes and when he did not pitch, an acting Speaker, Cllr Khaya Ndincede was elected to proceed with the meeting. Ntozini is said to be one of the ANC members who voted the mayor out.

Hospital’s Cathlab operational

Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - Life Anncron Hospital’s Catheterization lab (Cathlab) unit treated its first patient on Thursday 1 November, marking the completion of the Cathlab. This is only the second cardiac unit in the province and forms part of Life Healthcare’s continued efforts to provide exceptional care to the community.

Their feet are made for walking

Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - They say a family that walks together stays together, but walking almost 455 laps through the night around a rugby field to celebrate cancer survivors are not for any family. Then there is the extended clan of the Badenhorst, Pottas, Swanepoel and Ellis families who made their presence known at the annual Cancer Relay for Life event on Saturday 3 November in Klerksdorp.

Bank bomb a hoax

Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - A phone call warning that a bomb was planted inside the bank caused chaos in the CBD on Tuesday 30 October at Absa bank around 10:00. The bank was evacuated and streets closest to the bank, Anderson, Johanna van der Merwe and OR Tambo were closed by the police and traffic officers.

Klerksdorp Rekord, Stilfontein - ‘n Agtjarige skoolmeisie is beseer in ‘n fratsongeluk voor haar huis toe die buurman se tuinwerker beheer verloor oor ‘n motor en bo-oor haar ry. Dit was ‘n stil Saterdagmiddag in Buxtonstraat toe Mishka Hattingh vir haar ouers by die hek wag om saam met hulle winkel toe te ry. Haar ouers se motor het op die sypaadjie gestaan en sy was opgewonde om te gaan klere koop vir ‘n troue wat hulle later die middag sou bywoon.
