Local gymnasts go for gold

Senior gymnasts from the Klerksdorp School of Gymnastics (KSG) performed excellent at the recent National Gym Games held during the October school holidays in Pretoria and Johannesburg.

  • These rhythmic gymnasts excelled and achieved the following places, (back) Rozel Coetzee (Level 10, second place), Palesa Mohlamme (Senior Olympic, third place), Tatiana Lavrenchouk-Vizer (coach), Lilica Burger (Senior Olympic, first place), Hlompho Tlale (Level 4), Kara Muller-Van Schalkwyk (Level 4, first place and highest overall score), (front) Akira Stander (High Performance 1, first place), Lebo Maake (High Performance 2, first place), Delrike Maritz (Level 5) and Siyanda Tom (Level 8, second place). Jana Erasmus (Level 5, third place) and Candice Uys (Senior Olympic, second place) were absent.

  • These boys, trained by Oleg Vizer (back, right), shined at the recent National Gym Games in Pretoria. In the front row are Bhula Ngcengeni (Level 7, first place overall, highest overall score, gold medals for all six apparatus), Ruben De Klerk (Class 1, High performance, fifth place overall, one bronze medal), Stephan Pelser (Level 5, first place overall, highest overall score, four gold medals and one silver) and back Keanan De Vries (Level 6, first place overall, highest overall score, one gold and one bronze medal).

With them are their proud coaches Suzette de Villiers and Yana Vizer-Graceffa.
