Golden opportunity for Khuma footballer

Klerksdorp Record, Khuma - Local soccer ace, Sipho Sibiya from Khuma is beginning to make a name for himself on the football field when he recently took on Nedbank Cup champions Free State Stars, playing as a winger or striker for the Nedbank Ke Yona team. He was given the opportunity after a gruelling series of try-outs led by star coaches Shakes Mashaba and Khabo Zondo.

Klerksdorp Rekord, Klerksdorp – Louis Smit is ‘n 28-jarige adrenalien “junkie” wat in Klerksdorp gebore is en hier skool gegaan het. Buiten dat Louis ‘n entrepreneur in eie reg is, is hy ook ‘n handelsmerkambassadeur en professionele atleet. Hy gaan oorsee deelneem aan die wêreld kampioenskap in OCR (Obstacle Course Racing), maar het eers ‘n magdom ander wedlope om te verower.

Like fish in water

North West Swimming Association held its annual prize-giving on Sunday 23 September. Local swimmer, Hlalele Chaane (photo), a member of the Matlosana Swim Club, was awarded a trophy for the Best International Performance for the 2017/18 swim season. This was achieved at the 3rd CANA zone III champs in Tanzania during October 2017. Hlalele won a Bronze medal in the 100m breast stroke. He also won a Bronze medal in the 200m breast stroke. Recently, Chaane was selected to be part of the SA Elite Youth swim.squad for 2018/19 swim season. He has a passion for swimming and is a swimmer who let’s his swim performances speak for him. Mila Fourie, a swimmer from the Matlosana Swim Club, was awarded as the Best Girl swimmer in the 7 year and under category for her performances at the NW Swim Championship on Sunday 23 September. Matlosana Swim Club swimmers; Eva Markovic, Damian Wolmarans and Clayton Wright were awarded North West Junior swim colors for their achievements and performances during the 2017/18 swim season on Sunday 23 September.

Abie spin 6 ure vir kanker

Klerksdorp Rekord, Klerksdorp - Die jaarlikse spinathon ten bate van die Beeld Kinderfonds het onlangs in Pretoria plaasgevind en dit is net nie ‘n spinathon as Orkney se langasem, Abie Botha, nie deelneem nie. Volgens Adrie van Staden, hoof van die Kinderfonds, is sowat R160 000 ingesamel.
