Lentswe, Wolmaransstad- The Wolmaransstad police station held its debate for Junior station commander as a call from the police National Commissioner, Genl Kehla Sitole to involve the youth to fight crime in their respective schools and their communities at large.
Four schools namely Reabona, Gatelapele Secondary Schools, Maitemogelo Combined Secondary school and Wolmaransstad Höerskool participated in the debate on Wednesday 4 July.
The station management with delegates from the Office of the Premier, Department of Education, Social development, CPF, were present and some took part as adjudicators.
According to Letlhogonolo Mothibi, police spokesperson, the Hoërskool Wolmaransstad learner, Lethabo Lefera won the debate.
She is now the junior station commander and will be heading to Cluster level in the near future.
Kelebogile Kgopane from Reabona took second place as junior Vispol commander, Bophelo Seleke as junior detective commander from Gatelapele Secondary School took third position and Semakaleng Monyane came fourth as support head commander from Maitemogelo Combined Secondary School.
Mothibi said the management, sector commanders and Community Policing Officer (CPO), Sgt Lentikile Daniel Seleke who spearheaded the event appreciated the efforts of the learners and stakeholders for availing themselves for such an auspicious event.
As the station commander, Col Gaolatlhwe Senwedi alluded by saying the real job has started and the purpose of the event does not end with the debate.
Senior visible police commander, Col SusanTeledimo, senior detective commander, Col Thapelo Madito and senior support head, Capt Annelize Wagner also graced the occasion.
