It is the municipality’s responsibility

Giepa, via email - As one moves around in Klerksdorp, the destruction of infrastructure is clearly visible.

Pot holes on all our streets, traffic signs and lines on the roadways missing, water leaks in all our suburbs, scars left where some are repaired, rubbish ridden parks and pavements, the CBD looking filthy, once functional departments in disarray... the list is endless!

I am putting this letter in the Klerksdorp Record today to warn the Matlosana municipality - you are responsible to give the taxpayers service delivery - they are paying for that! More so, you and those acting as head of departments will be held responsible for any loss of human lives or injuries resulting from missing traffic signs or any road markings not in place, as stipulated by the National Road Traffic Act.

You and those acting as head of departments will be held responsible for any damage caused to the suspension, tyres or any other part of motor vehicles that was caused by pot holes or un-rehabilitated works on road surfaces that were not clearly marked as dangerous.
