Police officer stabbed

Lentswe, Klerksdorp - A motorist found the body of a dead man next to the road in Roosheuwel earlier this week - it was a police constable and he was stabbed multiple times.

According to Lt-Col Adéle Myburgh, police spokesperson, a motorist noticed the body at about 21:35 on Monday 5 February.

“The police were contacted and went to the scene. The body of Const Armand Wagner (23) was discovered with multiple stab wounds. He worked at crime intelligence. At this stage the circumstance of his death is unknown.

A case of murder was opened at Klerksdorp police station and investigation into the matter continues,’ says Myburgh.

Wagner was not married.

The North West Provincial Commissioner, Lt-Genl Baile Motswenyane, is deeply saddened by the gruesome murder.

“We condemn this senseless killing of our police officer. Our detectives will work around the clock in tracing the perpetrator/s. We also wish to convey our sincere condolences to the family, friends and colleagues during this trying time,” Lieutenant General, Baile Motswenyane said.

At the time of going to press, three suspects were arrested for the murder.
