Three dead in killing spree

Lentswe, Khuma - The police in Khuma are investigating cases of attempted murder and murder after six people were shot while they were asleep in a shack.

Three people died on the scene while another three were taken to hospital with gunshot wounds in the back and legs.

One of the wounded men is in ICU fighting for his life.

Three suspects aged 29, 39 and 46 years old were later arrested and were due to appear at the Stilfontein Magistrate Court on Tuesday 10 April.

The shooting incident happened at Ext 8 on Saturday 7 April.

According to Sgt Kelebogile Moleko, provincial police spokesperson, the suspects entered the victim’s room shooting randomly. “The motive for the attack is unknown at this stage,” he said.

Lentswe learned that it was a continuation of Basotho gang fights that were formed while they were illegally working as Zama zamas.
