Lentswe, Jouberton - The Economic Freedom Fighter (EFF) Commander-in-Chief, Julius Sello Malema guaranteed that the Matlosana Stadium in Jouberton was painted red with thousands of supporters attending the Youth Day Rally on Saturday 16 June.
During his keynote address, Malema said the youth must make changes so that people can live better lives. He also encouraged them to fight poverty. He clearly stated that it is crucial for the youth to push all they have into their current situation as it will have a significant impact on the country’s future.
Malema further called on State President Cyril Ramaphosa to pardon students who were criminally charged during the 2015 fees must fall protests for free education and also those who were expelled from tertiary levels.
“You must pick up the spear and continue to fight. Don’t be scared, you have nothing to lose but the chains of poverty.
“Petrol is very expensive and everything goes up because, bread that you eat and the bed that you sleep on have to be transported. Everything relies on petrol. It’s very expensive,” he said. The EFF President was in the company of his deputy President Floyd Shivambu, general secretary Godrich Gardee, national chairperson Dali Mpofu, national spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi and other leaders from the national, provincial and regional structures.
A number of artists, including the legend, Ringo Madlingosi, Jub Jub, Alaska, Spikiri, Distruction Boys and Black Motion performed before Malema and his team left the event around 17:40.
