Mahikeng residents have all the reasons to be excited by developments in their city this weekend.

Their mayor, Councillor Gosiame Seatlholo will on Saturday receive the Mahikeng Rebranding, Repositioning and Renewal Programme (MRRRP) on behalf of the people of Mahikeng from provincial Premier, Supra Mahumapelo and thereby set the pace for the much needed face-lift of the provincial capital and offering it the status of a real capital city.

The Potchefstroom campus of the North West University continues to be rocked by scandalous allegations following ongoing reports about several controversial issues at the campus situated in the Tlokwe Local Municipality.
Firstly, the university has in the past been accused of racial discrimination said to be existing within the student body, its management and university council.

Public hospitals in state of crisis in the North West province

The recent oversight visit to two of three public hospitals in the North West by the Provincial Legislature’s Portfolio Committee of Health and Social Development has prompted the chairperson of the committee, Nono Baloyi to call for the immediate closure of one of the institutions due to the crisis the committee discovered at the hospitals.
