MAHIKENG MAIL-MAHIKENG: One passenger burned to death in a taxi collision while 14 others sustained serious injuries after a driver allegedly lost control as a result of tyre burst and hit a tree on the N4.
The taxi that was travelling from Zeerust to Rustenburg caught fire after hitting the tree.
The MEC for the department of Community Safety and Transport Management Sello Lehari expressed deep sadness by the news and send his condolences to the family of the deceased passenger. He further wished a speedy recovery to the injured passengers.
MEC Lehari continued to plead with road users to pay extra caution on the road. “If we are all driving carefully, with caution and limited speed on the road, lives will be spared,” he said.
A Stop and Go on the west lane was used to control the flow of traffic. Law enforcement agencies and emergency services were present on the scene of the accident.
