MAHIKENG MAIL-MAHIKENG: The North West Housing Corporation hosted the maiden Alternative Housing Technology summit (AHT) attended by manufacturers, suppliers and quality assurance institutions recently at Hartbeespoort.
The gathering was a prime cross-industry event which focused on the new technology of housing including building designs, energy, innovative materials, construction, and plumbing.
The summit showcased technologies other than conventional ways of building houses using innovation through new alternative technologies to home builders, construction companies, developers, and policy makers to make informed decision that are safer, cost effective and environmentally friendly.
NWHC Property development and management General manager, Kgomotso Mahlobo had this to said “the summit indeed assisted the Corporation to discover and understand new technologies and improve in operations within the housing community in the North West province by being aware of the new ways of building housing and take advantage of the benefit of the Alternative housing technologies. This also encouraged the Corporations plan to building smart cities as one of its future projects”.
The summit included exhibitions, business Development forums, business presentations, Discussion panels as well as a networking Sessions with key stakeholders such as Agreement SA, NHBRC, HAD, North West House of Traditional Leaders, The North West Department of Human Settlement, SEDA, and many private companies.
Rapid implementation of the Alternative Housing Technology in the province was discussed to create housing projects that are adaptable and reactive to the changes in the environment and market, while ensuring long-term affordability and sustainability.
