Oupa Matla Foundation hosted the Oupa Matla Heritage Cup on September 15 at Montshioa Stadium where Laduma FC were crowned winners of the 2018 Oupa Matla Heritage Cup Championship after defeating Unit 15 Masters FC 3-2. The four competing teams in the tournament included Motlhabeng Masters the defending champions, Unit 15 Masters, Laduma and Conquerors. Laduma Masters received a gold trophy and gold medals while the runner-up team, Unit 15 Masters received silver medals and Motlhabeng Masters in third position receiving bronze medals. Oupa Matla Foundation would like to thank the teams which took part in the tournament including their supporters, sponsors and the rest of the community of Mafikeng for their undivided support as well as “most importantly”, Oupa Matla Foundation volunteers who made it possible for the tournament to take place. Oupa Matla Foundation chairperson, Oupa Matla said, “I was humbled by the support I received and will always look forward for advice from the people of Mafikeng to improve and make the tournament bigger”.
MAHIKENG MAIL-MAHIKENG: The annual Stlamatlama Soccer Tournament took place over the weekend at Makgetla Middle School Sports Ground in chilling and windy weather conditions that did not stop soccer loving fans and the local community members to witness the much anticipated soccer spectacle.

The Super Cup Final was at held on September 2 at the Montshioa Stadium, Artificial Turf. The second season of Super Cup hosted four Teams that made it to semi final where the Veterans lost 0-4 against Bafitlhile; Coligny swopping Riverside 4-2. The loser’s final were the Veterans who claimed third position over a 3-1 victory against Riverside.
2017 Champs repeated history when they defeated their neighbours Coligny Masters 3-0. Bafitlhile Masters was once more crowned the 2018 Champions as they lifted the trophy for two consecutive years. “We wish to thank all community members who supported our tournament said the tournament organizers Sylvester ‘ Bra Sly’ Semaushu and Klienbooi ‘Chippa’ Molokwane.
The North West Sports Awards held at MM Sebitloane Special School last Friday could not have been complete without the most sought-after awards presented to all deserving sports personalities who were honoured for having displayed great excellence and outstanding performances in their different sporting codes throughout the 2016/2017 sports season year.

The 2017 North West academy of the year, known for producing raw talented players to PSL academies, have been invited to play against Sundowns development teams featuring will be the Under 9, 11, 13, 15, 17 teams at Chlorokop on Sunday, September 02.
