Klerksdorp Midweek, Klerksdorp - South Africans from all walks of life are encouraged to participate in Nelson Mandela Month (July) under the theme: “Make everyday a Mandela Day: Contributing 67 minutes of our time to help those in need.” Since 2008, the country and the world has been celebrating Mandela Day on 18 July in honour of the country’s first democratically elected president.

Ward committee goes door to door in Stilfontein

Klerksdorp Midweek, Stilfontein - With problems like sewerage breakdown, non removal of refuse, water supply and potholes experienced by residents, the Stilfontein ward 30 committee has embarked on an information gathering mission.
The Green Team, under the leadership of Cllr Willie Louwrens, plans to go door to door to gather as much information possible on service delivery problems in town.

Lucky Jayson gets his bakkie

Jayson Morris of Klerksdorp is the owner of a brand new Ford Ranger! Pick n Pay Hypermarket launched this competition in April and the winner of this new bakkie was drawn on Sunday 12 July. Morris was the third name drawn in the random draw after the first to shoppers were not present. He was over the moon with excitement and happiness. Cimoné Peterson, Miss Klerksdorp Teen, drew the name of the winner with more than 8 000 people eagerly awaiting their name to be announced. She poses with the lucky winner and his baby boy Jimmy. Morris is married to Murray who recognised his cellphone number when the number were drawn. The competition was run at all 20 hypermarkets in the country and a bakkie was given away at each hypermarket on the same day.
