RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG -A forty two-year-old office worker of the Swartruggens Magistrate's Court, Gontle Petronella Maphologela, was sentenced to a R20 000 fine by the Rustenburg Serious Commercial Crime Court on Friday, 16 February, after she was found guilty on eight counts of theft.
 A police investigation revealed that between March and June 2021, Maphologela who was the financial clerk based at Swartruggens Magistrates' Court and responsible for the management of funds derived from fines and bail monies as well as other deposits made at the clerk of the Court, selectively stole eight cash in transit bags containing money and manipulated the registers to avoid detection.

RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - Finally, the cat is out of the bag - President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced on Tuesday that South African’s 2024 National and Provincial Elections will take place on Wednesday, 29 May 2024 and that the date has been officially proclaimed according to the South African Constitution. Rampahosa has called on all South African to exercise their democratic rights. Naturally, 29 May has been declared a “public holiday” - the date will be announced in the Government Gazette withing days from now, the President said.

RUSTENBURG HERALD - Ga-Rankuwa - Two friends who have been terrorising residents of the community in Hebron have appeared in the Ga-Rankuwa Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 12 February on charges of a string of cases against them.
The suspects were arrested on Thursday, 8 February, at Phase 3, Itsoseng after Hebron detectives and the unit Visible Policing acted on a tip-off from the public. 
Subsequent to the arrest, the police searched the room where the suspects were found sleeping and discovered a 9 mm pistol, 10 rounds of ammunition, cell phones, a plasma television and assorted bottles of liquor.

This year our Lunch Box Drive campaign involved new Grade 1 learners and was another great success, says Steven Vorster, owner and Manager of Pick n Pay Greystone Crossing.
In this year's drive Pick n Pay Greystone visited seven schools notably David Brink, Rustenburg-Noord, Rutanang, Karlien Park, Protea Park, Vastrap and Larries. A total of 1 200 lunch boxes with some healthy snacks were distributed.

RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - On Tuesday, 6 February, a successful intelligence driven operation by the Tlhabane police led to the arrest of two Nigerian nationals aged 28 & 31 years old for possession of drugs at Rustenburg Noord in Napoleon Street. 
It is alleged that upon the arrival of the police at the house, both suspects were busy packaging Nyaope in one of the bedrooms in preparation for an anticipated bulk sale.

RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - On Monday, 27 November 2023, 86 employees were involved in an accident associated with the personnel conveyance at Impala Rustenburg’s 11 Shaft. 
Tragically and subsequent to this devastating accident, 13 employees lost their lives. In addition, 73 employees were injured, several of whom are receiving ongoing rehabilitation, care and support from the Company. The in loco inspection was conducted and associated instructions from the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (“DMRE”) were received during December 2023, with the 11 Shaft site returned to Implats to proceed with further investigations, as well as to begin the necessary repairs to the damaged infrastructure at the site — under the direction of the DMRE.

RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - The Acting District Commissioner of Bojanala Platinum Sub-District 2, Brigadier Mmamotsamai Ntoagae, has welcomed the 10 years imprisonment imposed on Katlego Phillip Ngaletsane (33) by the Swartruggens Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 30 January 2024.
Ngaletsane was sentenced for raping a 33-year-old woman on Monday, 16 January 2023. The court heard that the accused and his friend were at a tavern at Borolelo Location, Swartruggens.
