BONUS - RUSTENBURG- This notice serves to inform all employees of the Rustenburg Local Municipality that the intended strike by the members of SAMWU, which was to commence on Monday, 30 October has been averted.

The municipality attained the interim Court Order against the strike on Thursday, 26 October. This means, the strike is prohibited, and therefore, any employee who embarks on a strike on Monday, will be doing so illegally. It will be an unprotected, illegal strike, and this will leave the employer with no choice but to apply appropriate remedial measures, that is, the principle of “no work, no pay”, followed by the disciplinary process, and subsequently, possible dismissal. “We want to alert all dedicated employees to be wary of some employees among them who are hell-bent on misleading them, with the intention to collapse the municipality, thus disenfranchising residents. The municipality will not sit back and watch as residents are disadvantaged, but will try with everything in our power to protect residents ‘rights.” said the Rustenburg Local municipality in a statement.
