BONUS -RUSTENBURG - On Wednesday morning (22 May) a 28-year-old male was arrested at his parents’ house in Protea Park after it was discovered that he defrauded a well-known online retailer of more than R120 000.
According to Sergeant Ofentse Mokgadi, police spokesperson in Rustenburg the suspect would order goods online, when the goods get delivered he would meet the delivery people on the road where they would not see his place of residence.
He would then produce fake proof of payments and resell the items in Rustenburg using social media. On Wednesday the man’s luck ran out when the retailer realised that they are losing a lot of money because of this man.
“They delivered the items that he ordered and instead of leaving, this time they followed the suspect to his place of residence where the police were called and the man arrested,” Mokgadi said.
It is also alleged that the items recovered were not the only ones, some of the other missing goods are believed to be worth R200 000.
He appeared briefly in court on Friday on charges of fraud and possession of stolen property.
