“Leopard” spotted in Hartbeesfontein

Klerksdorp Record, Hartbeesfontein - A leopard that was seen roaming in the streets of Hartbeesfontein is probably only a serval cat. A serval cat is the size of a jackal and it poses no direct threat to any human being because it is afraid of humans. Marisa Engelbrecht, a nature conservationist in Hartbeesfontein, told OFM the area is their natural habitat and there is still a large number of these cats in the province.

Lantern flats engulfed by flames

Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - Tenants of Lantern Flats at Noord Street in Klerksdorp were woken up by flames in the early hours of Monday morning 17 June. Most of these tenants are now homeless after the police confirmed that at least 29 rooms were burned to rubble on the second floor.

Juan Jansen (44) is verlede week aan ‘n asma-aanval oorlede. Volgens Sampie Bruyns, eienaar van Stage on N12 waar Jansen (44) gereeld opgetree het, was hy glad nie siek nie en was die hewige aanval onverwags.

Clean up the CBD

Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - The Klerksdorp CPF met last week about the increasing problems with illegal hawkers on sidewalks in all areas and especially in the CBD. Cllr Farouk Tagaree and the mayor, Maetu Kgaile as well as members of the police, health services and CPF members visited shops in the CBD on Friday 14 June to check whether shop owners are paying for services, housing illegals and also to clean up sidewalks.
