Matlosana cannot account for irregularities

Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - The Matlosana Municipality is among the five highest irregular spenders in the country. On Friday 8 November, Executive Mayor Maetu Kgaile, Municipal Manager Roger Nkhumise, Acting CFO Tsaone Sekgala and MPAC Chairperson Piet Bogatsu appeared before the Select Committee on Local Governance and Traditional Affairs in parliament to account on financial irregularities for the 2017/2018 financial year and why financial irregularities in the municipality were not investigated.'

Police bust more illegal miners

Klerksdorp Record, Orkney - The SAPS task team against illicit mining arrested four more illegal miners this week bringing the tally to six arrests since Sunday 10 November. The task team consists of various police units and security companies. On Monday 11 November four people were arrested for illegal mining, possession of explosives and explosive devices, possession of gold bearing material, trespassing and possession of dagga.

‘n Plaashuis naby die JA Neserdam is heeltemal verwoes toe die huis deur weerlig getref is. Volgens die eienaar, Bennie Duminy, het die huis op Maandag 11 November afgebrand tydens ‘n elektriese storm. Die nooddienste was vinnig op die toneel, maar die huis is totaal verwoes met die dak wat ingeval het. Hy het versekering.

Wanted thief behind bars

Klerksdorp Record, Stilfontein - A 43-year-old man was arrested by the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation team in Edenvale on Friday 8 November for illegal possession of unwrought gold. According to the North West Hawks spokesperson Capt Tlangelani Rikhotso, the suspect was circulated in the media earlier this year for his alleged links to an armed robbery where unwrought gold worth R35 million was stolen in Stilfontein on 18 February.
