Communicate successfully through Lekgotla

Klerksdorp Midweek, Orkney - The Dr Kenneth Kaunda District hosted a Communicators Lekgotla from Wednesday 28 until Friday 30 October with different stakeholders participating.

Stakeholders who took part were from Government Communication and Information System (GCIS), Media Development and Diversity Agency (MDDA), Independent Communication Authority of South Africa (ICASA), Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks), Office of the Premier, Department of Labour, Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA), South African Local Government Association (Salga) and others.

The disability desk’s Karel Lehloo was also there to promote disability rights through communication by rai-sing some of their challenges.

The MDDA spoke about their funding outreach programme in the North West: “The North West outreach is one of the nationwide programmes aimed at educating and informing potential and existing MDDA funding applicants about the agency’s new funding processes introduced last year, as well as compliance requirements in order to qualify for MDDA funding.”

MDDA said this outreach programme runs parallel with the call for grant funding applications that officially opened on 15 October for a six-week period ending on 30 November.
