Klerksdorp Midweek, Klerksdorp - The Klerksdorp/Tshepong Hospital Complex held a Nurses Day Celebration in recognition of nurses’ contribution towards saving lives.

The event was held at Lida Beytell Hall in Tshepong recently. Nurse’s Day is the anniversary of the founder of modern day nursing, Florence Nightingale’s birthday.

The theme for this year’s international celebration was “A vision for future health care”.

Matron Dikeledi Seleke, motivational speaker on the day, said: “Being a nurse is not only about helping patients heal physically but you also help patients to become stronger as individuals and emotionally and mentally prepared.”

KT Hospital Complex CEO Thulane Madonsela said: “It takes a really strong and determined nurse to work even in sometimes hard and harsh conditions”.

“Even in this ravaging pandemic we are proud of such patient facing anchors, who voluntarily and courageously, and very brave as essential service public servants, are willing to sacrifice their lives to save others,” said Madonsela.
