New name and international status for Mahikeng Airport

MAHIKENG MAIL - MARIKANA: The North West Provincial Government has reached another milestone in the recapitalization of the Mahikeng Airport. In his State of the Province Address which was delivered at the Marikana Community Hall, in the Rustenburg Local Municipality, Premier Supra Mahumapelo announced that the name change process of the airport has been completed and the Mafikeng Airport will soon be called George Dick Montshioa Airport, in honour of the Barolong Boo Ratshidi chieftaincy.

Mothers left to sleep on the floor

MAHIKENG MAIL-MAHIKENG: The recent pictures that are doing the rounds on Facebook about Bophelong Provincial Hospital in Mahikeng brought to light concerns about substandard hygiene and conditions in the Maternity Ward. The pictures show mothers sleeping on a mattress with the new born babies with no space as they sleep on the dirty floor and with no sheets provided.

Three weeks protest march settles down

MAHIKENG MAIL-MAHIKENG:  The concerned residents of Mahikeng and Mahikeng Hawkers met with the Executive Mayor Betty Diakanyo at TTA after numerous attempts made to meet her regarding the three week march that was conducted in the Mafikeng CBD. Thato Molosankwe who is gender based activist became a savior as he managed to arrange a meeting with the Mayor as she failed to commit to meeting the community of Mahikeng, Reports Teboho Letselela.

Hawks swoop on health department

MAHIKENG MAIL – The Hawks fraud and corruption unit swooped on the North West health department yesterday morning questioning workers about alleged wide spread corruption and fraud which have thrown the entire health administration into a crisis.
