Hundreds arrested in North West crime operation
STELLALANDER-DELAREYVILLE: The High Density Safer Festive Season Operation Shanela 2 in the North West Province has resulted in over 1 000 arrests for various crimes, as SAPS, in collaboration with other stakeholders, continued efforts to ensure the safety of communities across all five districts.
The weekly operations, conducted from Monday, 19 January to Sunday, 25 January 2026, included vehicle checkpoints, stop-and-search operations, roadblocks, tracing of wanted suspects, foot and vehicle patrols, and compliance inspections across the province.
