MAHIKENG MAIL-MAHIKENG: Mahikeng Local Municipality convened a special session with local Initiation Schools Principals, Surgeons and caregivers to share strategies on how to best practice initiation traditions, preserve our culture and heritage.
Culture deterioration has engulfed our communities wherein Initiation practices are used as a front for business and gangsterism.

Schools have been at the receiving end of all these malpractices.
The Municipality saw it fit to converge this and invited all relevant stakeholders i.e Traditional Schools Principals, Surgeons, Caregivers, Moral Regeneration, Department of Health, Education, Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, SAPS and the Provincial Initiation Coordinating Committee.
The Lekgotla resolved to form an interim committee working hand in glove with the PICC to oversee initiation season within the jurisdiction of Mahikeng.
The Executive Mayor, Tshepiso Mphehlo thanked all stakeholders and wished the interim committee well in execution of the task ahead.
