MAHIKENG MAIL-MAHIKENG: The Executive Mayor of Ngaka Modiri Molema, Cllr Khumalo Molefe welcomed members of the Trans Kalahari Corridor Secretariat who presented a plan to cycle along N4 route, which is also called Trans Kalahari Corridor (TKC) from Rustenburg through Zeerust to Walvis Bay in Namibia. 

The organizer of the cycling trip, Suebel Mmono, said the objective was to popularise the Trans Kalahari Corridor, advocate for spatial development initiatives along the route and promote road safety as well as the African Union Road Safety Charter. 
Thirty (30) cyclists from Botswana, Namibia and South Africa cycled along the Trans Kalahari route started from Rustenburg, yesterday the 16th of April and passing through Groot Marico and Dinokana village in Ramotshere-Moiloa Municipality of which the 1900 km cycling trip will end on April 27 2024 in Walvis Bay in Namibia. 
Mayor Molefe met with the cyclists at the Zeerust border  before crossing into Botswana where they will be received by the Botswana government authorities. 
“This will also simplify cross-border transactions and customs operations along the Corridor as well as facilitating the movement of goods and persons on the TKC in order to simplify, harmonize and control all requirements that govern the movement of goods & persons with a view to reduce transportation costs and transit times” Mmono explained to Cllr Molefe during their engagement.
