BONUS - RUSTENBURG - Louise Wilkinson is the founder of Pumpkin Ministries and together with her late husband, Mark, the organisation has been taking in children since 2008. She is mom to 8 children, some of whom are biological, adopted or fostered.
In Louise’s teen years, her parents became full time caregivers to 10 children at William Clark Gardens Children's Home. This provided insight and firsthand experience on what it was like to grow up labelled a “home child”. It has fuelled her passion to place children into forever families and help support children centres. Among Louise’s many credentials, she is an Affiliate Trainer and trained in Trauma Competent Care by Trauma Free World in Cincinnati Ohio.

She is also a Trust Based Relational Intervention Practitioner, from Texas Christian University at the Karyn Purvis Institute.  It is Louise’s desire to see every person become trauma informed to heal from their own traumatic history and be the therapeutic balm for all those around them, especially children from hard places.
Louise will again be in Rustenburg presenting "Advanced Trauma Competent Care Training" at Agapé Church on 12, 13 and 14 August from 09:00 - 16:00 daily. This training will cover: The impact of trauma on the brain, biology, body, belief and behaviour; learning about attachment, self regulation and sensory integration; how to understand and increase felt safety; help a child reduce overwhelming emotions; help a child reduce overwhelming behaviours, supporting a child's essential connections and relationships; help children build a strength based life story and the importance of self care.
