Floods destroys the N18 Road between Mahikeng and Vryburg
MAHIKENG MAIL - MAHIKENG: MEC Sempe Elizabeth Mokua accompanied by the Head of Department, Mr Moses Kgantsi, and a team from the department conducted an oversight visit on the N18 route between Mahikeng and Vryburg site, near Uplands.
This is one of the roads where heavy rains have resulted in damage to the drain storm water channel and erosion on part of one lane of the road. The South African Road Limited Agency (SANRAL), as the implementing agent of the road, has deployed a contractor to channel water from the road and has implemented a stop-and-go as a short term solution. “I appeal to motorists to cooperate with the team that has been deployed to ensure safety at the site, while repair works are being carried out.

Calm restored in Seweding
MAHIKENG MAIL – MAHIKENG: Calm has been restored in Seweding after residents took to the streets to protest the abandonment of a sewage pumping site by a service provider.
The site, which had been pumping sewage water from broken pipes, was left unattended after the provider allegedly failed to receive payment - resulting in dirty sewage flooding some residents’ homes. The residents, fed up with the situation, barricaded roads with stones and burning tyres, calling for Ngaka Modiri Molema Mayor, Khumalo Molefe, to address the issue.

Successful SANSBOC elective conference
MAHIKENG MAIL - KLERKSDORP: The MEC for North West Department for Community Safety and Transport Management, Wessels Morweng, said the safety of learners will under no circumstances, be compromised.
MEC Morweng was addressing the Provincial elective conference of the South African National Small Bus Operators Council, (SANSBOC) held in Klerksdorp.
