NOORDWESTER – COLIGNY – Naledi Ingwane (28), Johannes Selwane (54), Raymond Mokgobatlou (54), and Aron Matlala (56), are expected to reappear in the Coligny Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 3 April for business robbery.
The accused’s court appearance follows an incident in which armed men allegedly robbed a retail shop in Coligny after pointing staff members with firearms on Sunday, 25 February. They took cash, cell phones worth R300 000.00 and other valuables such as laptops and fled the scene driving in a Toyota Quantum vehicle. The suspects were arrested along the R104 road on Sunday, 18 March, by Marikana Police who were conducting routine patrols.

That’s after the police spotted a suspicious Toyota Quantum, which was driving from Rustenburg in direction to Pretoria and stopped it for a search. During the search, firearms and different registration number plates were found in the vehicle, which was circulated and positively linked to the Coligny business robbery. The suspects were arrested and charged for business robbery and unlawful possession of firearms. They appeared before Coligny Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 25 March, and the matter was postponed until Wednesday, 3 April, for formal bail application.
The Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena, applauded Marikana and Coligny police for their cooperation in ensuring the apprehension of the accused and subsequent linkage to the business robbery.
