STELLALANDER-KATHU: The swift response by members of the South African Police Service in Kathu, in conjunction with Rhino Security Company, led to the recovery of suspected stolen property and the arrest of two individuals aged 35 and 32-years-old. 
On Thursday, 1 January 2026, the police followed up on information regarding a house in Mapoteng where alleged stolen property was stored. Together with the private security company, the SAPS members operationalised the information and approached the identified residence.

During the search, items valued at over R80 000, including a television, speaker, shoes, clothes, bags, and suitcases, were recovered and confiscated.The stolen items identified are believed to be from a housebreaking complaint reported to have taken place in the early hours of Thursday, 1 January 2026. Two suspects, a 35-year-old male and a 32-year-old female, were arrested after they were unable to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding ownership of the goods. The duo is expected to appear in the Kathu Magistrate’s Court soon, while the investigation continues.
