BRITS POS – BRITS - In fighting illicit mining, the “Vala Umgodi” operation conducted in Hartbeespoortdam and Rustenburg between Friday, 10 and Saturday, 11 May, resulted in the arrest of 23 suspects.
One suspect was nabbed on Friday afternoon in Rustenburg for possession of explosives. The other 22 suspects were arrested in Hartbeespoort for contravention of the Immigration Act, 2002 (Act No. 13 of 2002). They are all foreign nationals from Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Malawi.

Oud-Britsie sterf in vliegongeluk
BRITS POS – BRITS - Die pragtige Rozanne de Beer Olivier is op 28 April 1991 gebore vir ouers, Bennie en Yvonne de Beer. Sy was ‘n Britsie in murg en been en matrikuleer in 2009 aan die Hoërskool Brits.
Rozanne begin reeds as 15-jarige met haar vliegopleiding en verwerf haar privaat vlieënierlisensie (PPL) op 16-jarige ouderdom, daarna haar kommersiële vlieënierlisensie in 2010 en werk as vlieginstrukteur by die Wonderboom nasionale lughawe, in Doornpoort Pretoria, waarna sy haar vlerke sprei en in 2017 sluit sy by Westair Aviation, by Eroslughawe in Windhoek, Namibië aan as kommersiële vlieënier.
Taxpayers pay shocking petrol bill for government’s VIP ‘blue light brigades’
BRITS POS – BRITS - The South African Police Service (SAPS) has spent over R42 million on petrol and diesel over the past six years for its VIP Protection alone, which works out to just over R583,000 per month.
This is according to a recent parliamentary Q&A, in which police minister Bheki Cele outlined the departments’ fuel spending for VIP protection services between 2018 and 2022 and between March 2023 and March 2024.
Two suspects arrested for the murder of Constable Makola
BRITS POS – BRITS - The Provincial Police Commissioner, Lt Gen Sello Kwena welcomes the arrest of two suspects in connection with the murder of the late Constable Mogoro Clement Makola (31). The victim was shot and killed on Monday evening, 15 April 2024, in Lekgalong village near Marikana outside Brits.
“The suspects, aged 40 and 44, were arrested in Ramochana, outside Rustenburg on Friday, 26 April, during a Crime Intelligence driven operation by Brits Trio Task Team and Marikana Visible Policing,” says Brig Sabata Mokgwabone, SAPS NW spokesperson, after Brits Local Criminal Record Centre (LCRC) provided the Investigating Officer with information after one of the suspects was identified through fingerprints.
