Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - Two men died last week while they were cleaning a sewer line in Uraniaville. It is suspected that they were overcome by methane while working for a construction company cleaning a sewer line in Radium Street.'

Robbers escape with gold

Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - Armed robbers escaped with millions of rands worth of gold dust in a daring robbery near Stilfontein last week. Klerksdorp Record learned that a vehicle transporting the unrefined gold was ambushed near the old Buffelsfontein Gold Mine on Friday morning 8 February.

Load shedding: Power grid under pressure

Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - Earlier this week, Eskom implemented stage 4 load shedding for the first time. This means that the country’s electrical generating stability is even more unstable than was suspected. On Sunday 10 February, load shedding was introduced for the first time this year after the 2018 load shedding season was halted in December 2018.

City get unqualified audit report

Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - Good news for the City of Matlosana is obtaining an unqualified audit report from the Auditor General of South Africa. An official from the Auditor General’s office, Rudolf Venter announced the outcome on Monday 4 February at the Committee room, Civic centre. The meeting was attended by the Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC) members, Municipal management and MMCs.
