Klerksdorp Record, Stilfontein - In what appears to be a war of attrition, the Northwest government is refusing to renew a license for a 295-bed private hospital that its owners claim has been patient-ready for five years, potentially providing jobs to fifty people. This includes twenty-five doctors and ten nurses.

The Duff Scott Hospital, a former mine facility with scope for operating theatres, ICU wards and an ambulance on hand, would alleviate pressure on the two hugely over-subscribed public hospitals in Klerksdorp.

Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - The police in North West are concerned about the number of rape cases that are reported mostly in townships, rural communities’ villages and farms.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner of Police, Major General Patrick Asaneng called on community leaders to what he is saying is a pandemic afflicting society.

“Despite several crime prevention strategies on gender based violence and more, women, girls and the elderly continue to be victims of gratuitous violent crimes perpetrated disturbingly by young men and in some instances partners or suspects who are known to victims. No amount of resources or policing plan will address moral depravity and societal ills such as gender based violence, domestic violence and other social fabric crimes,” he said.

Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - From this week, Klerksdorp Record is entering a new era in its publication by becoming a free newspaper.

That’s right. You no longer have to pay to read your favourite newspaper. According to Salomé Kotzé, editor of the Klerksdorp Record Group of Newspapers, this shift from sold to free is a carefully devised business strategy to get more newspapers, in more hands, and in turn gives more value to advertisers.
