Klerksdorp Record, Orkney - The Vaal River boat club will this weekend be the host for the battle of the clubs championship on Sunday May 19.
This event is a first for the North West province and promises to be action packed. All the best inland inflatable boat pilots and co-pilots will be in action for the prestigious event that will start at 09:00 with the 60 km long haul. The circuit event that consists of two elimination heats and one finale will start at 12:00 at the club house.
NWU’s best at Paris Olympics
Klerksdorp Record, Potchefstroom - In a little more than two months, the 2024 Olympic Games will be hosted in Paris, and a number of North-West University (NWU) students will get to be involved in the prestigious event.
Although the squads - including the management teams - have not been finalised, it can be confirmed that 400 m hurdles star Rogail Joseph, 200 m and 4 x 100 m sprinter Benjamin Richardson, javelin supremo Jo-Ané van Dyk and 4 x 100 m racer Bradley Nkoana have been included in the South African squad.
Beginners rol vir goud
Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - Klerksdorp Rolbalklub het die afgelope naweek die kampioenskap vir hul beginners aangebied.
Gedurende groepfases word wenners bepaal wat dan in uitspeelrondes teen mekaar meeding vir die gesogte titel van “Novice Champion 2024”.
Ultra-runners complete marathon
Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - The N12 Ultra Marathon between Klerksdorp and Potchefstroom took place last weekend.
The race that started in Potch and ended in Klerksdorp this year was won by Maxed Elite International athlete, Tonny Skink. The 10 km race that started and ended in Klerksdorp at the Recreational Centre was won by Jerry Motsau of Athletics Central NW.
The 50 km race started at 06:00 with a cut-off time of 05:49 at the NWU McArthur Stadium in Potchefstroom. The 10 km race started at 07:30 at Klerksdorp Recreation Centre .The opening ceremony of the 10 km marathon was performed by the Executive Mayor of the Matlosana Municipality, James Tsolela.
Amateur stoei op sy beste
Klerksdorp Rekord, Klerksdorp - Altesaam 109 stoeiers het die afgelope naweek by die Klerksdorp stoeisaal deelgeneem aan die jaarlikse Noordwes Uitnodigingstoernooi.
Klubs van Johannesburg, Fochville, Welkom, en Vryburg het op Saterdag 4 Mei na Klerksdorp gereis en toeskouers het puik stoei gesien.
Klerksdorp stoeiklub het hulle goed van hul taak gekwyt en 14 medaljes los gestoei. Die klub is besig om sy vlerke te sprei en nooi jong mense uit om aan te sluit by die klub.
