MAHIKENG MAIL - MAHIKENG: The community of Tlhabane in Rustenburg came together to celebrate the 2025 World Aids Day Commemoration, combined with the Thuntsha Lerole Integrated Service Delivery programme.
The event, held on 28 November, showcased the power of integrated service delivery with the Department of Health working closely with the North West Provincial Government, civil society leaders and community stakeholders to bring essential health services to the people.

One of the highlights of the day was the official opening of a newly renovated sub-district pharmacy, a major investment in improving access to medicine and strengthening health services for the people of Rustenburg.
North West Premier, Kagiso Lazarus Mokgosi, and Health MEC Sello Lehari, officially opened the facility, which will serve as the central hub for medicine management in the Rustenburg sub-district.
The pharmacy is expected to significantly improve the availability of medicine and ensure reliable access to treatment for patients.
The event also brought direct social and mobility support to vulnerable residents, with five community members receiving wheelchairs. The beneficiaries expressed deep gratitude, noting that the wheelchairs will improve their quality of life, restore confidence and enable fuller participation in social and economic activities.
Premier Mokgosi emphasised that the wheelchairs represent more than just mobility devices - they restore freedom, dignity and hope.
The Provincial Government commended all partners involved in the event, including civil society formations, NGOs, healthcare workers, traditional leaders and community structures for their united effort in advancing the province’s fight against HIV and Aids.
