BRITS POS – BRITS - The fight against crime through Operation Shanela continues with numerous success stories after 676 suspects were arrested for various crimes between Thursday, 12 October and Monday, 16 October.
Of the 676 arrested suspects, 226 were wanted for murder, attempted murder, rape, assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, assault common, house robbery and business robbery. 77 undocumented persons were taken in for screening.

Through stop and searches, road blocks, vehicle check points, visiting and inspecting of licensed liquor premises, second-hand goods dealers and tracing of wanted suspects.
The operation also resulted in the confiscation of various drugs, four handguns, one rifle, 30 live rounds of ammunition, two computers, liquor and copper cables. 
SAPS NW Commissioner, Lt Gen Sello Kwena, welcomed the successes and thanked the members for always showing dedication in pursuit for safer communities.
