BONUS - RUSTENBURG - Shavathon is in its 22nd year and 2024 is all about being ‘Colourfully Kind’.
Your kindness when you participate by spraying your hair, shaving your head, or donating hair towards a wig, directly impacts how many cancer patients CANSA can reach with their care and support services.
Did You Know?
CANSA’s psychosocial support services, including individual counselling, support groups and Tele Counselling services in seven languages, and online support resources, are all freely available to cancer patients, caregivers and loved ones.

Clinical queries regarding how to cope with side effects of treatment or cancer, nutritional needs, stoma queries or pain management tips are also free of charge, as are our Advocacy services. (Contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you or a loved one needs any of these services).
Your R50 donation at Shavathon (children under 12yrs only pay R25 and the price has not changed in two decades) ensures that they can continue to offer these vital services for free, and your kindness is touching countless lives!
Events will take place on Saturday 24 February at selected shopping malls, throughout South Africa, and continues with individual events hosted by workplaces, organisations or schools taking place from 26 February to 29 March 2024.
CANSA Shavathon provides a great opportunity for schools and organisations to run fun events that encourage teambuilding and volunteerism while also getting the serious key cancer-related messages across.
Colouring hair or paying a Bail Out Fee have become options for those who prefer not to shave, or who can’t shave on the day. For those who like to be actively engaged and to make a difference, Shavathon embraces volunteers, please sign up.
Spread the Kindness Online
CANSA is looking for fundraising Champions to raise funds online and win prizes. Create an online fundraising project for CANSA stating what action you will take at Shavathon 2024 and why. Will you shave if enough people donate to your project beforehand?
Will you cut a certain number of cm’s off if there are enough donations prior to the event? Are you doing this in memory of a loved one lost to cancer or to honour a loved one fighting cancer?
Using GivenGain’s digital platform, all you need to create your project is an email address or a social media account.
Once your project is online, you can mobilise your family, friends, colleagues and community to support you and CANSA by making an online donation to your project.
Don’t forget the more regularly you share the link to your project, the more likely you are to receive donations. Take before and after pics to get everyone inspired and invite them to the actual Shavathon event where you will shave, spray or donate your hair.
In doing so you are helping CANSA to fight cancer and make a significant contribution towards supporting cancer patients and loved ones.
