BONUS - RUSTENBURG – A screening of the semi-final of the Rugby World Cup went terribly wrong when a deck at a restaurant collapsed.
On Saturday night multiple injuries were reported at the event.
According to a trusted, informed source, a Fan Park was set up at the cricket grounds of Hoërskool Rustenburg for the public to view the semi-final of the Rugby World Cup between the Springboks and England.

The deck of the restaurant next door to the school, Stook was also used for the event. When thunder and lightning, as well as rain started, people moved from the cricket grounds to the deck of the restaurant. “It seems that five people chose to go under the deck to get away from the rain and thunder,” the source told Bonus/Rustenburg Herald.  During the second half of the semi-final, rain started up again and more people went to the deck. “All of a sudden the structure just collapsed. The people on top were not really injured seriously, but the five below the structure had to be rescued. All five were taken to local hospitals,” the source reported.  On Sunday morning (22 October), the Office of the Executive Mayor of Rustenburg issued a statement to say that the incident will be investigated to establish the cause of the collapse. “The Municipality is a safety conscious institution and will always put the safety of our community first,” the Office of the Mayor stated.
