BONUS - RUSTENBURG - Job Shimankana Tabane Hospital celebrated International Nurses Day on Friday, 30 May, under the theme “Our Nurses. Our Future. Caring for nurses strengthens economies”. The aim of this celebration was to recognise the valuable contribution nurses make in the health sector.
The Hospital Board Chairperson high-lighted that this celebration was to appreciate our unsung heroes, as predominately negative perceptions are associated with the nursing profession. “Without nurses, as community members, we are nothing. A nurse ushers a new born baby into this world and closes the eyes of a dying man,” lamented Moraope.
Giving an overview of nurses celebration day, Acting Nursing Service Manager, Sr N Setlhalogile highlighted the background of nursing day, through the remarkable inspiration of Florence Nightingale.
“Through her endurance, today nurses are the backbone of the health care system. Her efforts, showing compassion and commitment, made an essential contribution in the health care system.”
