BONUS – RUSTENBURG - Young boys from all four districts gathered at the Rustenburg Civic Centre on Friday, 28 November, to speak out against GBVF and many other issues surrounding the “boy child”. Through poetry and honest conversation, they emphasised that protecting the “boy child” is key to building safer communities.

Member of the Mayoral Committee, Cllr Virginia Mputle, gave a message of support where she highlighted the importance of how we must raise the “boy child”. She said, we as a society, must aim to raise boys who value themselves and others, who understand the importance of education, who reject violence in all forms, and who will eventually grow up to be responsible men, fathers, partners, and leaders.
She also emphasised that empowering the boy child is not in competition with empowering the girl child - it is a complementary effort that ensures balance, mutual respect, and shared progress.
The MEC for the Department of Social Development Hon Susan Dantjie was also in attendance.
