State of libraries a disgrace

Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - The state of libraries in the North West province is a disgrace. Last week, while the Department of Culture, Arts and Traditional Affairs (CATA) celebrated National Book Week, the DA in North West conducted various oversight inspections to libraries in the province to assess the state of libraries.

Kidnapped boy still missing

Klerksdorp Record, Kanana - The kidnapped 3-year-old boy is still missing. A 46-year-old man who was arrested on 1 September by the Klerksdorp Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) was granted R1 000 bail on Monday 10 September at the Orkney Magistrate Court.

NW residents not safe at home - DA

Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - Minister Beki Cele released the crime stats and the DA in North West is not surprised by the latest crime statistics. “The ANC has failed our communities on all levels - on service delivery and, even more so, on safety and security,” says Joe McGluwa, provincial leader. In North West, 49 more people were murdered than in the previous year, meaning that 950 people were murdered in the province from March 2017 to April 2018.

Elderly man dies in street

Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - Amid the violence between the taxi drivers and foreign nationals in Klerksdorp CBD, a man collapsed and died. The incident happened around 15:45 on Monday 10 September at Voortrekker Street in front of the Matlosana municipal building where the hawkers sell their wares.
